Yoshino Seicha wins top prize in ordinary sencha; Tahara takes deep-steamed category at 2026 Kagoshima Tea Competition
The Kagoshima Tea Industry Council announced results of the 2026 prefectural tea competition on September 11. Yoshino Seicha of Shibushi took the top award in ordinary sencha, while Mihwako Tahara of Kanoya won the deep-steamed sencha division. The competition judged machine-harvested first-flush rough tea. Satsumasendai and Kinko Town claimed regional prizes in their respective categories.
